Travel High Chair

My Recommendation

The Bright Starts Pop 'N Sit Portable Booster, Indoor/Outdoor Use, Floor Seat with Feeding Tray, Teal, 6 Mos - 3 Yrs

Reason to Buy

A travel high chair is useful in many settings:

  • Restaurants
There are many reasons you cannot rely on restaurants to have one:

    • They simply don’t have one.

    • All of their high chairs are in use when you arrive. (We’ve encountered many restaurants that have only one high chair.)

    • They have one for you to use, but it is not safe to use or it is uncomfortable for your child. (Many high chairs we’ve come across have broken buckles or missing straps. In one case, the chair looked like it was about to fall apart. Depending on your kid, broken buckles or straps could be a dealbreaker as far as using the chair).

  • Others’ homes or vacation rentals

    • It’s unlikely other homes you dine in will have a high chair for you to use. Therefore, bringing your own will allow you to let your kid sit independently so you can comfortably feed them and yourself.

Why I Love It

  1. Versatile
It can be used with or without the tray on the ground or mounted on a chair. The long straps allow it to work with a wide range of chairs. Many people use it at the park.

  2. Compact and lightweight
It is lightweight and compact, so it makes it easy to bring to restaurants and travel with. It comes in a carry bag with a shoulder strap. When flying, we pack it into our car seat travel bag.

  3. Easy to set up
It is easy to open and collapse, and it’s very simple to mount on a chair.

  4. Easy to clean

    1. Chair fabric

      1. Hose it down outside or take it into the shower and wash it there.

    2. Tray

      1. Wipe down or wash in the sink.

      2. Note: I noticed that the screws on the underside of the tray have started rusting.

Helpful Tips

  1. Attaching the straps
Attaching the straps to the product itself is simple but not intuitive. The metal loop has a slit it in, so instead of threading the strap through the hole, you slide the strap through the slit. There is a helpful instructional video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/KXpkbFMBWQU?si=FvUeXxT_w7Dw3sW2&t=34. The link is bookmarked to the strap attachment section.

  2. Keep straps attached
Keeping the straps attached to the Pop ‘N Sit will make it faster to set up. It will still collapse and fit back in the bag with the tray.

  3. Safety
Our kid has started pushing his feet against the table, which tilts the chair back. Luckily, we caught him the first time he tried it and are now on the lookout for signs that he is getting bored and fussy when we use it.
